2011 DR team walks to visit children's homes.

While we are passionate about directly impacting our community locally, we also see that we have been blessed in many ways.  With this blessing comes great responsibility.  The Bible makes it clear that we are to care for those who are oppressed, without a voice of their own, or in great need.

Our missions philosophy is grounded in our entire ministry mandate: help people far from God build Christ-centered lives.  With this in mind we have structured our missions program to help the people of Terra Nova move forward in this endeavor as well as engage those around us who are in need in such a way that they, also, can begin building Christ-centered lives.

We have three basic areas in which we work:

We are currently working directly with Family Promise of Delaware.  This organization helps homeless families in Delaware County find permanent housing and equips them to be self-sustaining.  12 churches in the county partner with Family Promise to host the families in the program.  Once every 12 weeks, Terra Nova provides meals and hosts for the program at their location in downtown Delaware.

Terra Nova has partnered with Vision Trust International in working to help under resourced children.  We are working directly with a small school in Commendador, Dominican Republic to sponsor the kids and equip the leadership of the school to continue reaching out to the community.  We send a team to help out about once a year as well as providing people with the opportunity to sponsor a child.

Individual Missionaries

It has been quite amazing to see a couple of families from Terra Nova sense God’s calling to “go” and serve Him in another country.  Terra Nova tries to support these families in what ever way we can.

South Africa

Kevin and Cristi Quist moved their family to Cape Town, South Africa in June 2012.  They are working with Living Hope helping people hear about the hope of Christ as well as educating people how to break the cycle of HIV/AIDS and poverty.  To learn more about the Quists visit http://thequists.com.

The Middle East

A Terra Nova family is in a Middle Eastern learning language and culture with the continued goal of staying the in Middle East to share the Gospel among unreached people groups. They are working to establish communities of Christ followers that will reach their neighbors with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are committed to expansion of God's Kingdom through local leadership and indigenous missions.
